Police standoffs, traffic standstills, snowplows and sloths. It's hard to imagine a career where you'd get to cover such different topics. Yet, while working in TV news and local government, I've been fortunate to have the chance to tell stories about each.

Before I began my writing career, I thought I was going to become a professional golfer. I grew up in the California Bay Area and got the opportunity to play golf for U.C. Riverside's Women's Golf Team while pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. But soon after I graduated, I realized golf wasn't my calling - I turned my focus to journalism. In 2011, I moved to New York City to study at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. Upon graduation, I began a fellowship at NBC Nightly News, which turned into a full-time position at NBC's Today Show. I then moved to different parts of the country to pursue a career in local TV news - first to Springfield, Missouri, then to El Paso, Texas, and finally to Nashville, Tennessee.

In April of 2020, I embarked on a new journey working as a public information officer for the City of Brighton, Colorado. Whether it's a press release on a new grant to help residents impacted by COVID or a full-on marketing campaign to promote a fun event to get students to name to the city's snowplows, storytelling remains at the heart of what I do.
